In chapter one, I learned that sources are basically anything that can provide you information that will help support an idea in your paper. Sources can be formal or informal. Also, in the section it talks about when to formally cite your sources and when that is not required. I did not know this before reading this section so it helped me a lot. It states that when the text is informal, such as a narrative, then you do not have to formally cite the source. When the text is formal, such as our research essay, then you have to cite the source. Reading this section got me thinking about sources I could use for our research essay. Obviously our interview is going to be one of our sources. For my topic, I can find a lot of information on the internet, but also newspaper articles, research reports, documentaries, and journals. This also got me thinking about the fact that I have to cite these sources. I remember how to cite website sources, but I kind of forget how to cite the other sources because I do not use these as often. I am sure this is good practice for papers in the future.
