This text seems very familiar to several other plot lines that have been written and produced. The author’s favorite book series reminds me of a Netflix show I have watched called 90210. In 90210, there is a rich girl who is portrayed as perfect. She is also blonde and tiny, and she is “popular”. 90210 is the first thought that popped into my mind when I read this text because of the parallels between the Netflix series and the author’s favorite book series. Another thought that popped into my head was the whole concept of “popularity”. I think society as a whole as an obsession with this idea of being popular. It’s become a norm in every high school and middle school that all of the good-looking, well off kids be friends with each other. It is second nature at this point, and it does happen everywhere. I think this whole concept is emphasized to people in the books that they read and through the films that they watch. Mean Girls, for example, is all about “popularity”. There are countless books and films like this, and I think this is helping make it become a norm everywhere. My last thought from this text was that I really enjoyed the fact that the author stood up for herself. The only way to get through to people sometimes is to stand up to them.
